On March 25, 2020, Styles announced that the Europe and UK part of his tour, “Love on Tour,” would be rescheduled for the winter of 2021. Harry Styles’ Fine Line album tour was initially set to take place during the spring of 2020 and continue in America during the summer.

Styles said regarding the rescheduling that “Anyone who knows me, knows that performing has always been my favorite part of working in music. However, during times like these, the safety and protection of touring crew, fans, and everyone else around the world is an immediate priority.”

Without a lack of national improvement from the virus, Styles announced in July of 2021 that the UK tour was postponed indefinitely. This was a disheartening announcement for his UK fans, as Styles had just announced the dates for the American part of the tour at the time. Luckily, with the relaxation of COVID restrictions in the US, the American part of the tour was able to begin in September, and it will now continue until November 20th.

At his first show back on tour, Styles echoed a similar sentiment to that which he expressed when he first postponed his tour, saying “And I promise you, when I tell you that this is my favorite thing to do, I mean this is my favorite thing in the world to do.” He furthered his statement by saying, “In the darkest times of what we’ve just been through, the thing that got me through was this night, knowing I’d be back in front of you at some point.” Fans too felt the relief Styles expressed at finally being able to see him perform. For many fans, it had been a long two-year wait of holding onto tickets in hopes that Styles would soon return to the stage should it become safe enough to do so. Throughout his career, Styles has continued to affirm that it is thanks to his fans that he can do what he loves. Even before the start of his solo career, Styles was seen to bestow appreciation for his fans in a series of tweets posted on the ten-year anniversary of One Direction (Styles’ former band). In the tweets, Styles said, “To all the fans, I love you, and I thank you with all my heart. You did it all, and you changed everything.” So although COVID may have altered the original plans for the Fine Line album tour, it’s evident from his continued statements that Styles never lost the appreciation he’s had for his fans since the beginnings of his career. Styles missed his fans just as much as they missed him, and ultimately this tour was undeniably worth the wait on both ends.
