Miu Miu, the renowned fashion brand recognized for its youthful and experimental designs, continues to push limits. The Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2026 collection by MiucciaPrada focuses on the work of women, exploring its adversity and invisible labor of women. The collection includes tradwife aprons, “a symbol of the hardship and effort of women,” as expressed by Mrs Prada. The garment, historically worn by women, was shown on the runway to depict resilience. Along with its practical purposes, it also reflects the perseverance of women.
The aprons were in cotton material and some in leather, the cotton highlights the more comfortable material and the leather on the other hand is a more bold choice of material. Aprons are also a universal symbol of work, with functional purposes, which is what Miu Miu collection showcased.
Drawing inspiration from TikTok Tradwife aesthetic, a rising trend on social media where women embrace traditional gender roles such as cooking, homemaking, and nurturing their families, the collection uses vintage elements with a more modern design. This phenomenon has encouraged women to embrace traditional roles, while at the same time redefining them. Social media platforms have become a space for creators to share their lifestyle and daily routine as a Tradwife. The collection mirrors this trend through its use of pastel colors in soft shades (pink or yellow colored material), to add a sense of domestic comfort .
Halfway through the show, the collection showed floral aprons over polo shirts. The combination showed femininity and practicality, where the past informs the future, one of Miu Miu’s concepts. The front pocket designs on the aprons drew inspiration from the 60’s crochet apron, defined by its range of patterns.
The collection expresses the duality of womanhood, the societal expectation to be “nurturing,” prioritize family life, but also to have a career. By including parts that emphasizes domesticity, the collection makes us reflect about the various roles women have.
Overall, the Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2026 collection reveals the versatility and resilience of women, highlighting their work, challenges, and experiences. It reinforces the idea that femininity can coincide with determination, urging women to celebrate all aspects of their identities.
