It is no secret that Boston is not considered a ‘hot spot’ for nightlife activity; it is, however, a growing hub for food and drinks scattered around. Here are my top 10 bars in and around Boston. 

10. Starting off with a classic at number 10, Mission Bar and Grille. This is the type of bar with great drinks, reasonable prices and a young, fun atmosphere where you’re likely to run into all your neighbors, friends and professors… fun, right? This is a place for a fun night out, under the impression of modesty and professionalism. 

9. A lively Mexican restaurant known and beloved right in the middle of Newbury Street, La Neta is a great place for some $6 tacos and $12 margaritas. While this may sound like a strain on the pockets, one margarita will have you waking up with a sombrero on your head — just kidding.

8. Tavern of Tales: “Boston’s Only Board Game Bar.” Simply put, a cool hangout spot for some fun games and creative cocktails. With private rooms, and great big game tables, you can be transported to your DND realm, or feel immersed in your monopoly board game. This experience provides for an entertaining and exciting adventure in drinking and gaming. 

7. WuSong Tiki Bar is a great place for a relaxed night in Cambridge with great drinks and Asian-fusion food options. Located right across the river, this prime location allows for an exciting night out in a possibly new town. 

6. Ale and fish, bangers and mash, all aspects of the best pub in Boston; or, at least the most popular among the colleges: The Black Rose. As beer fills the air and music pours out of this colonial style window, you feel as if you’ve been shipped off to Ireland and forced to participate in beer contests in the best way possible.

5. Tavern in the Square: This is the chain of Boston, the most understated locals hangout spot. With locations in North Station, Assembly and elsewhere in the state, it is a nice place to enjoy some cocktails, or mocktails, at reasonable prices and some tasty and unique dishes.

4. Simple, sweet and understated: Temple Records. This 1950’s inspired cocktail bar is the definition of blending cultures and music into the new age. Simply put, it’s a must visit! Music from Japan in the 1950s flows through the air, and records are posted on the wall making for an amazing experience all the while sipping Gin Martini’s: YUM!

3. Blossom Bar creates the most versatile and unique combination of traditional drinks to unique cocktails. With its welcoming indoor-outdoor seating, this provides an appeal and Instagram worthy atmosphere. Being on the fancier side, it’s perfect for dressing up and taking pictures, without breaking the bank. 

2. Wicked Craft is optimal for its handcrafted cocktails, Instagram picture-perfect vibe and location, situated right in the middle of the North End. The atmosphere creates for an exciting night on the town perfect for 21st birthdays and graduations with friends. While on the pricier side, it is made up for in the food and large portions.
