As the end of October fast approaches, the excitement of Halloween builds. Over the years, Halloween costumes have evolved, while still some, remain timeless classics like (ghosts and witches). Popular costume choices include nurses, cats and vampires. This year, 2025, there have been several rising trends that will shape how we celebrate Halloween, from costumes to festive treats and decorations. Here are Halloween trend predictions:

DCC Cowboys: Inspired by the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader (DCC), expect a surge in costumes. The cheerleader outfits with a Southern cowboy twist, creates a fun look. Season 1 of the docuseries received attention and was immediately renewed for a second season. The first season got millions of viewers, highlighting its impressive Netflix debut.

K-pop Demon Hunters (Rumi, Saja Boys): With the rise of K-pop in the Western world, and the huge success of the film, fans of the genre and/or the film will dress up as their favorite animated character, whether that is Zoey, Rumi or Mira, or Jinu, who is the male lead.

Wicked: Musicals continue to impact Halloween trends. Lead characters from “Wicked,” such as Elphaba and Glinda, will be dressed up by many. The excitement surrounding the upcoming second and final part of the film, Wicked: For Good, is set to come out this November. Elphaba, recognized for her green skin and defiance, depicts individuality. Glinda, represents charm and optimism, and wears bright gowns. Halloween goers may either dress in black robes and pointy hats, or, like Glinda, in a sparkling gown.

Wednesday (Wednesday Addams, Enid Sinclair, and Agnes DeMille): From the viral TikTok Wednesday dance to Lady Gaga starring in an episode of season 3 of Wednesday, this costume will surely be chosen by many.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce: With the recent and highly covered engagement news of Taylor and Travis, Swifties, whether in a couple or not, may dress up in any of their date night or casual clothes. Travis’s NFL top and Taylor’s shimmering stage outfit

Sinners (Stack and Mary): Fans of the thriller horror vampire film, Sinners, may end up dressing as “Mary” or “Stack” the two main characters of the film. Some Mary costumes might include bold makeup, a glamorous 1930s-inspired dress, and thin gloves. And Stack, maybe something more casual but stylish like a well fitted dress jacket and a dark pair of pants.

Timeless classics Britney Spears, early 2000s, Cher from Clueless, Jennifer’s Body: Nostalgia-driven costumes, reminded us of the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s – think Britney’s stage looks (the red catsuit in her music video Baby One More Time), the airplane stewardess in Toxic, and the 2001 VMAs snake outfit – will continue to trend this year.  Cher’s pinstriped plaid skirts and blazers, embodies 90s fashion and consitently remains a popular choice.
