Thanksgiving break is coming up, and if you’re anything like me that means it still seems further away than ever. If you’re depressed over midterm election results, dragging your heels working on that project that always seems to be due the day after Thanksgiving break, or just plain bored, venture out into the city this weekend and try something new.

Homecoming Movie Night

Every Northeastern student knows it’s Homecoming week — but with a headliner as iconic as Tina Fey, it’s hard to even think about what else Northeastern offers during this week of spending its hard-earned tuition money. One of the more lowkey activities is the free movie night, featuring giveaways, food, and “The Incredibles 2”. It starts at 9 p.m. in Afterhours on Friday, Nov. 9 — don’t forget your super suit.

Homecoming Hockey Game vs. UConn

Without a football team, many might question whether this could even be called a Homecoming game. To that, Northeastern says “who cares?” — and to be honest, nobody likes tailgating at college football games anyway (said no one ever). Lack of a football team notwithstanding, the DogHouse at the Homecoming game is still a treasure to behold. Come out to Matthews Arena, support your Huskies, and lose your voice screaming “Stacy’s Mom” at the top of your lungs this Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m.

Pupsgiving 2018

I feel like this one kind of speaks for itself, but in case you didn’t fully appreciate it in the title, here it is again: pupsgiving. Sunday, Nov. 11 from noon to 3 p.m., bring your furry friend to Fenway Community Center to watch the Patriots game, snack on free pizza, and meet … wait for it … local dog celebrities. I don’t know who they are, but I know I love them. Or, if you don’t have a pup of your own, check it out anyway. The event is free, but donations are appreciated and benefit local dog shelters. Look here for more about it.

Pop-Up Arcade Bar at House of Blues Restaurant

If you’re a sucker for nostalgia, you need to check out this arcade bar. It features vintage arcade games like pinball, Ms. Pac-Man, and Asteroids — guys, this is amazing. From now until Nov. 15, it’s open to everyone daily from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; At night, it becomes 21+. Another win: they’re arcade games, so it costs literal cents to play — there’s even a change machine in the restaurant for those of us who don’t carry around rolls of quarters in our pockets. Step into the Hawkins Palace Arcade, ladies and gents.

“Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience”

It’s almost sacrilegious to say this (“A Very Potter Musical” fans, I’m sorry) but this show is supposed to be great. Boasting all seven “Harry Potter” books in one play, a live quidditch game, and a fire-breathing dragon, “Potted Potter” is playing at the Cutler Majestic Theatre nearly daily until Nov. 25.
