ChatGPT is Google’s more concise, more detailed, but perhaps more immature cousin. It takes any question you have and finds the simplest answer by scouring its pre-programmed databases as references. Microsoft recently bought ChatGPT for $10 billion dollars to integrate it into its very own search engine. As the wave of artificial intelligence is beginning to rise, keep an eye out for ChatGPT.

Here’s what college students are using ChatGPT for right now:

  1. Getting Comfortable Speaking ChatGPT’s Language

Just like a hammer or a wrench – or Google – ChatGPT is nothing more than a tool. Just like how Google pioneers discovered the most effective search strategies (using keywords in a searches instead of proper grammar, for example), ChatGPT pioneers are learning how to most effectively input their questions into the software.

Dubbed “AI whisperers” students and other pioneers who effectively pick up on this communication skill between themselves and the AI could get jobs for their synergy with AI. That’s right – being skilled at “Chat GPT-ing” a question could itself be a job.

  1. Math/Science Homework

Not only does ChatGPT solve problems, it explains its logic. Though it might not always cooperate, especially when problems don’t copy and paste into the chat box properly, if it understands the problem and the givens, ChatGPT will walk you through all steps taken to solve most math and science problems.

  1. Essays

ChatGPT can also write essays for students, and it even cites its sources. ChatGPBT can also write essays for students, but be wary of its citations. The AI often cites papers that don’t exist.

  1. Co-Op/Internship Prep

With a tool like ChatGPT that can create and format a resume, and even write out a good chunk of your cover letter, why would you ever need to worry about getting your co-op again? However, this can be a bit tricky because you need to know the right prompts to give ChatGPT for it to answer efficiently.

ChatGPT’s only limitation is the questions you ask it. The more specific and creative the question, the more impressive the output. Take a couple minutes to Google cool things you can do with ChatGPT and start AI whispering on your own.
