The semester just kicked off, and you’re either back in Boston or here for the first time ever — whichever it is, you need a fresh list of go-to spots across the city for studying, weekend fun or food. We all know that Snell, Curry and Centennial aren’t going to cut it for the whole semester, and that’s why I’ve got you covered. So check out this carefully curated list of the top fall spots in Boston where you can eat, relax, explore, shop, study and more.

Marvel at Franklin Park Zoo’s Boston Lights

Open every night through Oct. 29, you can’t miss out on Franklin Park Zoo’s incredible lantern experience. Take a journey in this illuminated, magical land to encounter a mythical reimagination of ancient worlds and deep dark oceans, where ice dragons, infinite tunnels and towering pyramids will immerse you in a jungle of lights. Tickets are around $20 and you can purchase them on the Franklin Park Zoo website

Eat, shop and explore at SoWa Open Market

You’ll never get bored at this seasonal farmer’s market, open 11:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m on Sundays until Oct. 29. Hungry? Grab a mouth-watering taco or acclaimed Paisani sandwich. Or head over to the 20+ galleries featuring talented local artists and inspire yourself from their work. Plus, shop artisanal gifts for loved ones or decorations for your dorm at one of many stands, or just stop by to chill in the beautiful outdoor space.

Skate your heart away at Chez-Vous

This super fun 70s trend is making a comeback at Chez-Vous, a rollerskating rink in Dorchester. Disco lights illuminating the floor, super danceable music, plus snacks — the vibes are 110% there. Tickets are just $10 before 4:00 p.m and $15 at night.

Feel artsy and intellectual at the MFA

It’s so easy to visit the Museum of Fine Arts that you may think you’ll never get around to visit. But it’s not going anywhere. It’s free and it’s right there! But I’m here to tell you that you can’t postpone your MFA trip any longer because this fall they’ve got some very exciting experiences, including exhibitions on fashion, miniature art, feminism, ancient worlds and contemporary art, movie showings and art classes. Plus, MFA Late Nites is coming back Oct. 20; this eclectic, cross-cultural arts and dance party was an absolute hit back in March, and I’m guessing they have big plans for the next one.

Jump on your school work at the Boston Public Library

Finally, I have to recommend the beautiful Boston Public Library in Copley Square, which is about a 20-minute walk from campus. To transport back in time, visit the older wing, with the signature green lamps, long wooden tables and extraordinary dome. For a newer, colorful, more library-like feel, check out the newer wing, just across the courtyard. And yes, the courtyard is as beautiful as you’ve heard; so if you’re looking for an Instagrammable spot in Boston, now you know where to go.
