Tate McRae, singer, songwriter and dancer, is about to go on tour for her second album, “THINK LATER.” The Canadian pop singer released her album Dec. 8, and her tour begins in Ireland April 17. In comparison to her first album, this one has a lot of feistiness and fierceness coupled with feelings of longing, angst and frustration that can come with being in relationships.

Some of the songs on “THINK LATER,” like “messier,” are softer ballads with heavy-hitting lyrics that leave the listener feeling the emotions of sadness or bitterness that McRae skillfully created. Others are more upbeat, such as the most popular single on the album, “greedy.” “greedy” embodies the idea of someone not really knowing you but still pursuing you as if they are the one who is in control of getting you to open up. However, this song emphasizes the concept of empowerment, in that the singer is the only one who decides if the other person is trustworthy and should be given a shot to get to know them.

“greedy” has been McRae’s most successful release so far. It has broken the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 3 Jan. 13. This is the highest any of her songs have ever been ranked and is the only one to have been ranked within the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100. It also has the second highest number of streams on Spotify with over 1,060,006,974 as of April 13, only trailing her breakout song, “you broke me first,” which has 1,389,500,006 as of the same date. “you broke me first” was released when she was only 17 years old in 2020 and took off due to media platforms like TikTok where videos were made with her music in the background.

“THINK LATER” has been doing well so far, and fans are very eager to see these songs performed and brought to life on stage for the upcoming tour. Being in front of large live audiences is nothing new to McRae. Having a dance and performance background, the singer knows the importance of stage presence. She began dancing when she was six years old and began competing just two years later. In 2016, McRae starred in “So You Think You Can Dance: The Next Generation” when she was only 13 years old and placed third.

She is expected to bring that energy to her tour and give her audience, made up of mostly teenagers, those her own age, and those in their early 20s, a great show. 2024 has been a promising year so far for this young artist, and her music career appears to be truly taking off as she won her first awards this year. She brought home the Single of the Year award for “greedy” at the Juno Awards, but did not stop there. McRae also walked away with the Artist of the Year award. After electrifying performances from her first album, the 2024 NHL All-Star Game and the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards, this April should kick off an incredible seven-month tour for McRae.
